Police officer’s house torched in Lilongwe

Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that angry protesters have torched a house belonging to one of the law enforcers.

This follows a decision by the police to fire teargas to disperse the protesters around Bishop Simama premises in the capital Lilongwe.

The protesters also torched police armoured vehicle, grabbed some teargas launchers.

Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) are holding a national wide protest to force the immediate resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah for failing to manage the May 21 tripartite election.

Meanwhile marching is yet to commence in the capital Lilongwe due to running battles between the police and the protesters.
