Catholic Priest chased at St Michael’s Parish over adultery allegations

A catholic priest has been chased by church members at St Michael’s Parish in Chitipa over adultery allegations, faceofmalawi can reveal.

The incident happened on Sunday and the alleged priest has been identified as, Reverend Father Charles Chinula.

According to information at hand, Chinula is accused of having sexual relationships with female congregants.

Chinula is also accused of mismanaging church resources.

The development has forced the Karonga Diocese to close down St Michael’s Parish in Chitipa. The diocese has accused the members of misconduct.

“What this means is that everything relating to sacraments and leadership from priests will not be taking place in the whole parish until the bishop is convinced that the lives and work of the priests will be safe,” reads part of the letter signed by diocese’s secretary the Reverend Father Joseph Moloka Sikwese.
