Medical Council of Malawi to Slab Medical Practitioners Implicated in Uterus Removal of 161 Women

The Medical Council of Malawi has disclosed that it will bar any medical practitioner implicated in the removal of uterus-es from 161 women in the country’s four major public hospitals.

The council’s Acting Registrar Richard Ndovi said that the move follows the recent Ombudsman report and their own investigations which revealed professional misconduct which led to the removal of the uteruses as a result of Cesarean section complications.

Following with the development the office of the Ombudsman has also revealed that it is receiving increased compliments of poor service delivery in public institutions.

According to the office, over 200 complaints have been reported to the office in the past eight months.

Meanwhile, over 65 percent of them have been resolved.

Spokesperson in the Ombudsman’s Office Arthur Semba observed that members of the public are now utilizing the office.
