Lightning kills standard 5 pupil in Phalombe

Mianga Primary School Standard 5 learner has been struck to death by lightning, Faceofmalawi can reveal.

The deceased has been identified as Beatrice Nkhata, 11 year old standard 5 pupil.

According to information at hand, the pupil reported for class at Mianga Primary School and she knocked off. It is said that the pupil was struck by lightning on her return from school.

The girl was found lying in pain by passersby who took her to Chitekesa Health Centre where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Postmortem results showed that the girl died due to lightning electrocution.

Beatrice hailed from Chirombo village, Traditional Authority Jenala in the district.
