Mtambo, Trapence back in action, says anti-Jane Ansah demos in the offing

Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) chairperson Timothy Mtambo has describing as untrue reports that, together with vice chairperson Gift Trepence, they sought asylum in another country.

Social media was wash with stories that the two had ditched Malawi, where they been instrumental in galvanizing protesters in anti-Jane Ansah demonstrations.

Addressing the media in Lilongwe on Wednesday, Mtambo said HRDC will continue to call for resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) Chairperson Justice Jane Ansah for alleged mismanagement of May 21 elections results.

He went on to clarify that they had travelled to Ghambia on official duties.
