Another black woman emerges winner at Miss France 2020 pageant

Another black woman has won a beauty pageant, joining the reign of black queens in major beauty pageants around the world. Miss Guadeloupe, Clémence Botino, was crowned in the 90th edition of Miss France pageant on Saturday, 14 December.
History was made in 2019 when the crowns of Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and more recently, Miss Universe, were worn by four beautiful black women.
Just as the world is celebrating the special reign, 22-year-old Botino, a masters student in art history from Guadeloupe, beat 29 other beauties to win the prestigious national competition and succeed last year’s winner from Tahiti, Vaimalama Chaves. Miss Provence, Lou Ruat, was the first runner-up and Miss Tahiti, Matahari Bousquet, was the second runner-up.
The representatives from Burgundy, Sophie Diry and Côte d’Azur, Manelle Souahlia, were the third and fourth runners-up respectively.
The newly-crowned Miss France is expected to represent her Western European country at the Miss Universe 2020 pageant.
