Court orders Ministry of Education to allow Rastafarian children to enroll in public school

The High Court in Zomba has granted an injunction forcing the Minister of Education Science and Technology (MoEST) to allow all Rastafarian children to be admitted and enrolled into government schools.

Last year members of the Rastafarian community held demonstrations demanding the government to allow its Children to be allowed in public schools.

The grouping argued that denying their Children chance to enroll in public school because of dreadlocks is an infringement to right to education.

But government remained adamant on the matter hence the injunction.

Effort to speak to the Ministry of Education spokesperson proved futile.
