Mchacha suspended for four weeks in Parliament

Parliamentary Service Commission has found guilty some members of Parliament from government side for disorderly conduct during the tabling of Electoral Reform Bills.

The committee has since suspended deputy Minister of Transport Charles Mchacha from Parliament for four weeks and legislator for Blantyre North Sameer Suleman has barred suspended from attending parliamentary meetings for 90 days.

MPs Francis Phiso and Francis Kasaira have also been reprimanded for misbehaviour.

Few days ago, there was chaos in the chamber that forced speaker Catherine Gotani Hara to prematurely suspend the deliberations of the day.

This happened following resistance by DPP MPs to observe standing order 104 by the speaker for misconduct in the chamber.

The commission has also suspended Yusuf Nthenda for misconduct for up to one week.

Meanwhile, parliament has adjourned sine die.
