Mhango Asks Malawians to Stop Traveling to COVID-19 Affected Countries

The Minister of health, Jappie Mhango has asked Malawians to stop traveling to countries that are affected by corona virus until the outbreak is controlled.

The virus has spread in Italy, France, Germany, Iran and South Korea since its outbreak at Wuhan in China.

Mhango said that they do want the virus to be imported into Malawi and they are screening for Corona virus in all travellers arriving in Malawi through international airports.

“We are following up for 14 days all travellers from China, Italy, France, Germany, Iran and South Korea. So far, as of yesterday, 9 March, 2020, we had in total followed up 233 people. 111 people are still under self-isolation or quarantine. No person has been found with the disease,” he said.

Meanwhile, WHO has confirmed the corona virus as a pandemic since the disease has been spreading in many countries around the world at the same time.
