Intern doctors at QECH down tools

As coronavirus cases are rising day by day in the country, Intern doctors at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Blantyre have gone on strike.

The doctors are demanding government to consider providing them transport to pick and drop them at designated areas and raising their risk allowance which they say is at K1, 800 per month.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Kondwani Nankhumwa bumped into the striking staff at Queens this morning.

Nankhumwa has since assured the disgruntled doctors, saying he will report to responsible authorities.

Malawi has so far recorded 16 cases of Covid-19 with two deaths.

More details to come…
