Chilima Tells Supporters Not to Panic with Alliance ‘Ndimaganiza Bho Heavy’

United Transformation Movement (UTM) president Saulos Chilima has urged his supporters not to be frustrated with Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and partners’ alliance saying it is for the good of Malawians.

Chilima who is also the state vice president said this on Sunday at Mzuzu upper stadium during a Tonse Alliance political rally.

Chilima and MCP’s Lazarus Chakwera signed entered into an electoral agreement in a colorful ceremony that took place on March 18 2020 at Kamuzu Institute in the capital Lilongwe.

On May 6, Chakwera presented his nomination papers to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah at Mount Soche Hotel in the commercial City of Blantyre where he unveiled Chilima as his running-mate in the fresh presidential elections.

The development, did not please some of UTM sympathizers who wished that Chilima was made the torchbearer of the Alliance, mixed reactions were captured.

Easing the hearts of his supporters, a good public speaker he is, Chilima told his supporters not to panic for he puts welfare of Malawians at heart and wishes them good.

He further asked his supporters to take heart and accept the decision to allow Chakwera to lead the alliance.

“Ndimaganiza bho heavy,” Chilima said to his supporters.

Chilima who said he has paused his ambitions of becoming a president, said he is very optimistic that the alliance will carry the day come July 2, 2020.

In his remarks Chilima said Chakwera will be the sixth president of Malawi and he will continue his post as the vice president.
