Mia Promises Not to Let Malawians Down, Focuses on Regime Change

Vice president for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Sidik Mia has said he does not want to turn Malawians down by prioritizing his political ambition of becoming the country’s state vice president.

Mia said this when he visited and distributed maize flour to over 1000 households in Gilemu area, Chikwawa South Constituency.

According to Mia, the pair of MCP leader Lazarus Chakwera and United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Saulos Chilima stand for what majority of Malawians need.

Responding on the social media rumors that he has dumped MCP, Mia said he has not quit the party luring them to vote for Tonse Alliance in the forthcoming fresh presidential elections.

“You see principles matter a lot in politics and I have stuck to my principles and my loyalty is to MCP and Dr. Chakwera, nobody can move me out, Mia said.

Mia added that he joined MCP because he knows what the party stand for and what his people want, “I stand for the people in the Shire Valley and the entire country, and I cannot afford to let them down,”

His remarks come barely days after United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi running mate to the incumbent President Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) last weekend beckoned Mia to return either to DPP or UDF.

Mia said apart from campaigning vigorously for the MCP to get more votes from the Shire Valley, the party also intends to strengthen their monitoring mechanism to consolidate every vote in the region.
