Man Kills ‘Cheating’ Wife In Cold Blood

A Zimbabwe woman met her untimely death last month after she was barbarically stabbed by her husband for allegedly having an affair.

Forget Mleya,42, is reported to have suspected that his wife, Tracy Sibanda, was having an extramarital affair with another man from the community. Out of spite, Mleya took the law into his own hands and attacked his wife.

According to reports by iHarare, the man ran amok and stabbed Sibanda with a kitchen knife during his visit at her home in Gwanda. Sibanda is alleged to have carried the murder weapon from his place of residence in Beitbridge.

The matter came to light at Gwanda Magistrates’ Court where Mleya appeared facing a murder charge.

Prosecuting, Mr Noel Mandebvu said, ‘Mleya left Beitbridge where he is employed and went to visit his wife who stays in Gungwe area in Gwanda. He carried with him a kitchen knife as he suspected that his wife was having an affair with someone from the community. He arrived at his mother in law’s homestead and inquired about his wife’s whereabouts and learnt that she had gone to their homestead with her eight-year-old son,’ he said.

‘Mleya followed his wife and stabbed her twice on the back with the kitchen knife. A scuffle ensued between the two of them and Sibanda managed to trip her husband who fell to the ground and she fled to a neighbour’s homestead where she sought refuge.’

Mr Mandebvu said Mleya followed Sibanda and explained that he had stabbed her after suspecting that she was having an affair and he indicated that he wanted to take her to hospital.

Mleya rushed his wife to Manama Hospital but, unfortunately, she succumbed to the stab wounds upon arrival.

Gwanda magistrate Miss Lerato Nyathi remanded Mleya in custody to June 11.

Mleya was not asked to plead.
