Covid-19: 110 New Cases, 3 Deaths and 167 Recoveries

In the last 24 hours, the country has registered at least 110 new covid-19 new case, 3 deaths and 167 recoveries, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 730.

According to the chairperson for Covid-19 presidential task force, Dr. John Phuka, out of the new cases 103 were detected form 457 returnees from South Africa that arrived in the country within the week through Mwanza Boarder and Kamuzu International Airport.

The statement continued that the other 7 cases are from Lilongwe, Mzimba (both has 2) and Dowa, Salima and Chitipa has 1 case each.

At least three people have died from the virus in Mzuzu, Karonga and Blantyre.

According to Phuka two cases from Lilongwe are health workers.

Meanwhile, Malawi has 11 deaths and 258 people have recovered from the novel coronavirus standing a total of 461 active cases.

The ministry of health is therefore requesting all who are positive for coronavirus to adhere to all preventive measures in order to contain the spread of the virus.
