Acting Commissioner of Police for Central Region, Evelista Chisale, who was arrested on Friday charged with murder, has been transferred to Dedza Prison for security reasons.
Dedza Prison spokesperson, Holman Majiga, confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Majiga, the police commissioner is the only suspect that has been sent to Dedza prison.
Commissioner Chisale was arrested together with 11 other police officers for the death of suspect Buleya Lule in police custody in Lilongwe in 2019.
The suspects appeared before the court on Monday where they were formally charged and referred to Maula Prison.
