Malawi prison records second Covid-19 death

The Malawi Prison Services has recorded a second Covid-19 death after an inmate from Nkhotakota prison died on Wednesday morning.

This means all two inmates who tested positive at Nkhotakota prison have died, as the other one passed away last week.

Nkhotakota prison spokesperson Mwiza Mtambo confirmed the development and said they have conducted tests for all inmates and officers at the correctional facility and are waiting for results.

Malawi Prison Services spokesperson Chimwemwe Shaba said he was still gathering details on the issue.

Malawi has so far recorded 4752 cases with 152 deaths.
