Suspected Boko Haram militants attack Cameroon camp

At least seven people have been killed and 14 others wounded during an attack in northern Cameroon by suspected Islamist militants on a settlement for people already displaced by conflict.

Reports from the village of Goldavi, close to the Nigerian border, say the army offered some resistance but as the suspected Boko Haram jihadists left, two young women detonated bombs.

The UN refugee agency has condemned Tuesday’s attack which comes a month after 18 people were killed at a camp for displaced people.

Over the last decade more than 30,000 people have been killed in the Boko Haram conflict in the Lake Chad region.

The UN says more than 2.5 million people are now displaced internally in north-east Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
