After all attempts to reclaim Karonga Central Constituency, United Transformation Movement (UTM’s) Frank Mwenifumbo has conceded defeat and congratulated Malawi Congress Party’s (MCP) Leornad Mwalwanda.
“Better late than never, Congratulations Hon Leonard Mwalwanda for being elected Member of Parliament for Karonga Central. May God bless,” Mwalwanda writes on his Facebook page.
Mwenifumbo, was eyeing the Karonga Central Constituency after it fell vacant following the demise of the holder of the position Cornelius Mwalwanda who succumbed too Covid-19 earlier this year.
After the by-elections which were held on November 10, 2020 and Mwalwanda was declared of the polls, Mwenifumbo has been filing complaints to MEC on the grounds that the elections lacked credibility.
He further alleged that his main competitor, Mwalwanda was not eligible to vote since he did not register in Karonga Central Constituency.
However, the electoral body has been rebuffing Mwenifumbo’s complaints saying that they lacked merit.
Meanwhile, Mwenifumbo has also withdrawn all complaints he filed against the electoral body Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).
