Teenage girl tragically dies after tree branch fell on her while fetching firewood

In Kenya, a 15-year-old girl from Senyende Village in Muranda, Shinyalu Constituency in Kakamega County died on Tuesday, December 15 after a tree branch fell on her while she was fetching firewood in a Forest.

The Class Five pupil died on the spot, her mother, Jacqueline Kadogo, told local publication K24 Digital.

“My daughter and two of her friends had gone into the forest to fetch firewood. Unfortunately, a branch tree fell on her head, killing her on the spot,” Kadogo said.

Confirming the incident, police’s Robert Makau, said the teenager’s body was taken to Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.

Meanwhile, the girl’s family have appealed for financial aid from the Kakamega County Government or the National Government.
