Jealous Police Officer Shoots Wife Dead

In a heartbreaking development, a jilted police Sergeant yesterday gunned down his wife at their home in Chitungwiza.

the publication has established from The Herald that, Sergeant Tichaona Chirinhe (38) based at Crime Prevention Unit of Harare Central Police Station, killed his wife Julian Chirinhe (37), who was also a fellow police officer in the traffic section.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the shooting which happened on the 27th of December saying;

“Sergeant Tichaona Chirinhe has been arrested for killing his wife. The incident happened this (yesterday) morning in Chitungwiza. After the shooting, the now deceased was rushed to a nearby clinic in Chitungwiza before being transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where she was confirmed dead on arrival.”

The police are still investigating the incident as they are trying to ascertain what happened on that particular morning. Sadly Sergeant Julian was murdered at a time the force had just promoted her early this month.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi implored members of the force and the generality of the people of Zimbabwe to resolve their problems amicably whenever there are problems.

“We do not condone acts of criminality by our members, and in this case the officer has been arrested and the law will take its course,” he said.

He condoned Seargent Chirinhe’s behavior stating that it was quite disheartening that Seargeant Chirinhe had to resort to such level of violence. He also condoned acts of abuse of service pistols as well as equipment by members.

“We again do not condone the abuse of service pistols and any other equipment by officers,” he added.
