Tropical Cyclone Chalane Dies

Last week the department of Climate Change warned of stormy rains mostly in the southern part of the country due to Cyclone Chalane.

According to the department the Tropical Cyclone was expected to make its landfall in the country on 30th December.

However, Jolam Nkhokwe the department’s director, has said the Tropical Cyclone has died as it requires water bodies to sustain itself.

Meanwhile, Nkhokwe has said currently the Exiting Chalane has left low pressure system over the southern part of Africa which is enhancing rainfall activities.

Nkhokwe has said the persistent rain may cause floods in the flood prone areas of in the southern parts of Malawi.
