MANEB says security lapse contributed to 2020 MSCE leakage

The Malawi National Examination Board (Maneb) board chairperson, Alfred Mtenje, has told the Parliamentary Education Committee that the leakage of 20202 MSCES examination papers was due to security lapses.

He told the committee that police investigations indicate that the former Maneb chief executive officer ordered that there should be only six police officers instead of 20 which was required number.

According to Mtenje, this was one of the factors that led to the massive leakage of examination papers.

Mtenje and Maneb Acting CEO Dorothy Nampota are currently appearing before the committee to give an explanation on why 2020 MSCE exams were leaked and what security measures have been put in place to ensure there is no leakage of exam papers as learners rewrite the exams from today.
