Poly Student Test Positive For Covid-19

Polytechnic University has announced that it has registered its first Covid-19 case saying that the confirmed case is a student.

According to statement released by the university, the student was immediately isolated from fellow students.

“Efforts were immediately made to isolate the student from where the concerned student was residing. The guardians were informed on the situation and the student has since gone home for isolation,” the statement reads.

Meanwhile, the Polytechnic Management has said it has engaged Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) to trace those who came in contact with the student promising that once other contacts are found, they will be isolated as well.

“Management has put in place measures of ensuring that there is no escalation of covid-19 cases on campus,” continued the statement.

The management has revealed plans to decongest the campus to halt the spread of the virus adding that most of its programs will be migrated to Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) and “intensify screening of those accessing the College coupled with regular disinfection and wearing of face masks at all times.”

The Polytechnic University Management has also pleaded with all students and staff to always observe the covid-19 measures put in place and make sure that everyone is masking up in order to avoid escalating the spread of the virus on campus.
