Govt Urged To Review School Calendar

As schools are expected to resume at the end of this month, education experts have called on government to review the school calendar.

This comes as government extended the closure in the wake of an increase in Covid19 infections and deaths.

Benedict Kondowe, an education expert has said the extension will likely affect the syllabus as teachers will have varied pressure to complete study topics.

“We need to avoid situations in which some teachers will have to select a few topics to teach just to play catch up. These are disparities that can be solved when the calendars are reviewed and tailor make them to strike a balance’’ said Kondowe.

He has since urged the ministry of education to add some more weeks of lessons for teachers in the country to have a balance work.

Meanwhile, authorities at Kamuzu Academy have revealed that government has granted the institution an exemption to keep boarding students slated to sit for international examinations of the University of Cambridge including checkpoint classes.
