At least five people have been arrested in Zomba for alleged being found trafficking forest produce without permit.

Eastern police Assistant Publicist Tionge Kayenda confirmed of the arrest.

According to Kayenda the arrest followed a tip the police received from well-wishers on the night of February 21, 2021.

Kayenda said that the people were trafficking charcoal along the Liwonde-Zomba road.

The police officers followed up and managed to intercept a Toyota Dyna lorry carrying 54 bags of charcoal.
