Councils, Clusters Barred From Spending Covid-19 Funds

The Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 has directed all councils and clusters except   that of ministry of health and education to stop spending all Covid-19 funds.

According to a statement signed by Rev Moses Chimphepo,  Commissioner of Dodma addressed to all councils, the order follows a meeting the taskforce held on 23rd February, 2021 at BICC.

According to Chimphepo, the meeting was aimed at providing guidance and direction on the utilization of the 17.270 Billion Kwacha fund that was already released to clusters.

The meeting agreed that all clusters and councils must stop spending allocated resources with immediate effect except for the ministry and education.

The meeting further agreed that all the funds should be transferred back to Dodma account and they can only be accessed when they submit their proposed itemized activity plans.

Meanwhile,  the plans are expected to be submitted to taskforce by Friday 26th February and are expected to be reviewed on Tuesday 2 March, 2021.

Furthermore, the councils have been reminded to submit monthly expenditure reports for the month of February 2021  by 5th March, 2021.
