Health Rights Campaigner, Maziko Matemba has asked government to consider the demands raised by teachers with underlining health conditions.

Since government orders that schools should reopen after a five week closure, teachers have been boycotting work demanding that they should be given risk allowances.

Responding to the teachers demand, government has said it is pointless adding that the teachers will be the first beneficiaries of Coronavirus vaccine.

According to Matemba, teachers with underlining health conditions such as HIV, High Blood Pressure and diabetes are at high risk.

On Monday, Presidential Press Secretary Brian Banda indicated that science does not recognize teaching as a more risk profession.

The comments by the Presidency follows ongoing demands by teachers in public schools for provision of Covid-19 risk allowance.
