Man Stabbed To Death During Argument Over Who Has More Cattle In Namibia

A retired police officer from Okatope village in the Ohangwena region was arrested on Tuesday for murder after he allegedly stabbed a man to death during a continuation of an argument over who has more cattle.

Ohangwena police spokesperson, inspector Kaume Itumba, said the incident happened at 16h00 at the Nawa Nawa village cuca shops.

Bystanders said an argument about who had more cattle had initially erupted between the two men on Monday afternoon.

“The suspect, it appears, got offended and today (Tuesday) when they went to the same bar the suspect wanted to continue with the same argument and confronted the victim. He got angry, took out a traditional knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach,” the police said.

The victim was rushed to the Engela hospital but later died while he was being transferred to Oshakati for further medical treatment. His next of kin had not been confirmed of his death by yesterday evening.
