ICAM/MIM INTRODUCE CERTIFICATE PROGAM

Institute of Chartered Accountancy in Malawi (ICAM) has partnered Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) to start offering a new program.

The six-month program which will be used to award a certificate of achievement will be called “Finance for Non-finance Managers”.

The program will be aimed at equipping people who make financial decisions such as in Board meetings but did not have skills in finance.

The program will soon commence in Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu MIM campuses.

Speaking during the ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, ICAM chief executive officer Francis Chinjoka Gondwe said the program will also widen its revenue base.

“At the moment we have two main streams of income, within our strategic plan we want to diversify and this program is part of this initiative,” said Gondwe.

The MoU stipulates that ICAM owns the program and will be administering examinations but it will be delivered to participants by MIM.

MIM acting executive director Samson Sikelo says this training will broaden the capabilities of decision-makers in making sound financial decisions.

“We have a lot of managers who are on the helm of making financial decisions, and we thought to introduce the program to sharpen their skill,” said Sikelo.

The program will be covering financial management, budgeting process, implementation and reviews, working capital management, cost behavior, and analysis, bank and reconciliation and ethical conduct, behavior, and professionalism in finance.
