2 IN POLICE CUSTODY AT MONKEY-BAY FOR SELLING UNLICENSED DRUGS

Police at Monkey-bay in Mangochi District are keeping in custody two men are for allegedly being found selling assorted medical drugs without a license.

Eastern Region Assistant Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Tionge Kayenda, has confirmed the development.

According to Sergeant Kayenda, the suspects, Edwin Peter, 41, and Iman Kachingwe, 21, were arrested by Monkey-bay Police Officers on Saturday, May 22, at Kaiche Village in the district.

Kayenda said they received a tip-off that the said suspects were offering for sale some medical drugs in their houses without a license.

She said officers went and managed to recover assorted medical drugs and arrested the two after they failed to produce supporting documents.

“Both Peter and Kachingwe will appear before court soon to answer the charge of selling medical drugs without a license,” said Kayenda.

Peter comes from Mbamba village, Traditional Authority Fukamapiri in Nkhatabay district, while Kachingwe comes from Kape village Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi district, according to the spokesperson.
