14 people succumb to COVID-19

Third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc in the country with the latest report showing the virus has claimed 14 lives in the past 24 hours.

This has been confirmed in a statement released by Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda who is also Co-Chair of the Presidential Task Force.

According to Chiponda, now the death toll is at 1,352.

She further revealed that in the past 24 hours the country has registered 347 new COVID-19 cases with 165 new recoveries.

The development means that now the number of active cases in the country is at 7,146.

Meanwhile the Malawi police service is currently conducting an operation across the country aimed at seeing Malawians following COVID-19 preventive measures.

The operation has seen 80 Malawians from Blantyre being arrested.
