Gospel musician Jomo Nkunika dies

Renowned Malawian gospel musician Jomo Nkunika has died in United States of America.

One of the social commentators Onjezani Kenani has confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page.

Kenani said Nkunika died on Thursday.

“Truly shaken on hearing the news of Jomo Nkunika’s passing. He was about 42 years old.

“We were in college in the same years. A quiet but brilliant man, an instinctive contemplative. Multitalented too,” wrote Kenani.
“Towards the final years at The Polytechnic, Jomo formed The Springs, a band that not only entertained us on campus, but also came to national attention with its hit, Mloleni Yesu Alamulire. Jomo, who studied electronics at The Polytechnic, went on to obtain a bachelor of science degree in applied sciences and technology, with an emphasis on health services technologies from Thomas Edison State University.

“After that, he went to the University of Maryland, Global Campus, where he obtained a master of science degree in health care administration. In the community where he lived in his final years, Jomo was an active member of Cedarbrook community church in Clarksburg Maryland, USA, where he played piano on the worship team. Also, Jomo was involved in non-profit work. He served as board member with the Washington DC-based Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. Rest in peace, Jomo. You did your part on earth, and your life was a message to us all.”

Meanwhile funeral details are still sketchy at the moment.
