Woman who spiked officials’ alcohol passes out after unknowingly drinking it

Police officers in Kenya, Mombasa County, are holding a woman who was part of a gang that spiked alcohol belonging to Kisumu County officials.

Leah Mwenja, 31, however unknowingly drank the spiked alcohol as well and passed out.

Mwenja was found unconscious with the three men at an apartment where they had booked themselves into.

The men, who are said to be senior officials at the physical planning department in Kisumu County, were reportedly enjoying their drinks at a restaurant when they were approached by the women.

“Wowed by their stunning looks, they beckoned the ladies to join their table,” read a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“Little did they know that they were inviting a pack of wolves whose mission wasn’t having fun, but hunting for easy prey to steal from.”

The statement added: “As the soothing ocean breeze swept across the bar that overlooks the Indian Ocean, the county officials bought as many rounds of booze popularly known as ‘kuchafua meza’ and they made merry up to the devil’s hour.”

The entourage left the bar at 3am for their rooms with more drinks, only to be found unconscious in the morning by their fellow county employees.

Mwenja was found unconscious alongside them, with her two other accomplices having fled however.

They made away with laptops, mobile phones, and other valuables belonging to the county officials.

Mwenja and the officials were treated at the Coast General Hospital and declared to be out of danger.
