Police Yet To Make More Arrests On The Alleged Plunder Of Covid-19 Funds

Almost 5 month have gone since the Malawi Police service (MPS) made arrests of people involved in the alleged plunder of K6.2 billion Covid-19 funds and more arrests are yet to be made.

So far, only 62 people were arrested.

National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera has said the police are currently focusing on prosecuting one by one who was nabbed over their involvement in the plunder.

According to Kadadzera, the police are in court against Rashid Mtelere, Dominic Chimaliro, Martin Mainja and Mphatso Matemba.

Kadadzera says more arrests would be made on the alleged plunder of public resources.

In April this year president Lazarus Chakwera fired one of his ministers Ken Kandodo after he was named in the report that was released by auditors who looked into how the Covid-19 funds were used.

Then series of arrest were issued by the police.
