Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate Court sentenced a Zimbabwean truck driver to 15 months imprisonment for planning to trafick 30 Ethiopians to South Africa and furnishing false information to acquire a Malawian national identity card.

The 29-year-old Nigel Kaliofas was found with the Ethiopians in his truck on 23 September, 2021 at Best Oil Filing Station in Lilongwe, according to Pasqually Zulu, Central Region Immigration Spokesperson.

Zulu said the convict will be deported to his country after serving his sentence.
