Mpinganjira Case To Resume At 2:30

The High Court in Blantyre has adjourned its ruling on application by the state that Lusungu Gondwe and his firm Ritz Attorneys should not represent businessman Thomson Mpinganjira in his bail pending appeal application.

According to lawyer representing the Anti-Corruption Bureau Chikumbutso Harawa, there is an order by High Court Judge Dorothy Nya Kaunda that Gondwe should not represent Mpinganjira and that Malawi Law Society should not conduct a disciplinary hearing against Gondwe over how he managed to obtain bail for   Mpinganjira at Zomba Magistrate.

The bail was granted at midnight by fired magistrate Beston Chitsakamile in March this year.

However, Lozindaba Mbvundula spokesperson for Ritz Attorneys has argued that Gondwe and Ritz Attorneys was cleared by Malawi Law Society.

Meanwhile Judge John Chirwa has adjourned the ruling to 2:30 pm today.
