Senior Resident Magistrate Florence Msekandiana has now started hearing the case involving Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) gurus Joseph Mwanamvekha and Dalitso Kabambe.
Mwanamvekha and Kabambe have pleaded not guilty to charges of abuse of office and false accounting as they were working as Minister of Finance and Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor respectively.
The two allegedly committed the crimes when they acquired the services of officers at the Reserve Bank of Malawi to falsify figures to paint a rosy picture about Malawis’ domestic economy a development that led to the cancelation of the ECF by the IMF.
Hearing is currently underway at Lilongwe Magistrate’s Court.
