The Lilongwe Magistrate Court has granted bail to former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe and former Minister of Finance and Economic Development Joseph Mwanamvekha.
The two were arrested earlier this week on grounds that they inflated figures to paint a good picture of the country’s economy to IMF and World.
Magistrate Florence Msekandiana granted bail to two Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials today.
In her ruling, Msekandiana has thrown out the state’s argument that if left on bail the two would tamper with evidence.
The case will now resume in seven days time.
