Ugandan opposition Leader and musician, Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine has slammed the country’s president Yoweri Museveni in his latest song, “Ogenda”
Bobi Wine who has been the main critic of President Museveni, used his talent to express his innermost dislike for Museveni’s dictatorial regime.
A section of Ugandans including human rights activists welcomed the song, saying it clearly depicts the nature of the current regime led by President Yoweri Museveni.
Taking to his Facebook platform, controversial Ugandan Human rights activist and social defender, Stella Nyanzi, hailed Bobi Wine for his prowess and speaking the reality on the ground.
“The lyrics of Bobi Wine’s music have always moved me – be it positively or negatively. As a writer myself, I have total reverence for his mastery as a wordsmith.” Stella Nyanzi said.
Nyanzi went further to describe the content of the song to her supporters on Facebook.
” In this song “Ogenda” posted today on his timeline, my yearning for liberation from dictator Museveni is verified. I love how Bobi directly addresses Musajjamukulu without mincing words, and how he insists that “Ogenda” to the face of the tyrant.”
She added:” The footage in the video of the song is powerful in how it unapologetically exposes the innumerable forms of torture, human rights violations, and lawlessness normalized by dictator Museveni. ”
Stella Nyanzi who has been at loggerheads with the Musician-cum-politician and his NUP party, expressed maximum satisfaction, saying Ugandans should embrace his approach.
” I have maximum respect for Bobi Wine’s creativity, art and song writing. If nothing else, I appreciate and admire how he uses his talent to speak bitter truths to power. This brilliance can never be denied!” she stated further.
Last week, Ugandan government placed Bobi Wine under house arrest.
Wine said security forces surrounded his his residence and put him under house arrest before a planned campaign rally.
