Mchinji registers a rise in human trafficking

Police in Mchinji say cases of human trafficking continue to rise where 37 have been registered in 2021 alone compared to 34 recorded in 2020.

According to a report released by the police in the border district, at least 119 victims were rescued from traffickers last year, while in 2020, the law enforcers intercepted 147 victims.

Community Policing Coordinator for Mchinji, Rome Chauluka, says a total of 35 perpetrators got arrested last year, and that the victims were picked from Lilongwe, Mchinji, Dedza, Salima, Dowa just to mention a few.
