Former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has said it will move to vacate the injunction obtained by two National Governing Council (NEC) members against recent appointments made by teb party leader, former president Peter Mutharika.
The Two Ken Msonda and Joe Nyirongo said the appointments are Unprocedural, illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic.
According to the two, they are saving the party from destruction saying it clear that it is not Mutharika who made the appointments but people surrounding him hence their move to stop the appointments.
The injunction is stopping all the appointments made from 2 October 2021 and that includes the position of Party spokesperson that Shadreck Namalomba holds, will stay until the party’s Secretary General calls for a National Governing Council meeting.
In a press statement signed by the party’s Administrative Secretary Francis Mphepo they will move to court to vacate the injunction and asked those that have been affected by the injunction to remain calm.
“The DPP informs all its members and all those that have been affected by the court injunction to remain calm, as the DPP is making an application to the High Court to Challenge and vacate the Injunction,” read part of the statement.
According to the statement, the appointments were made in accordance with the party’s constitution.
