Police Hunt MCP Official Chipiliro Kaliyopa Implicated In Police Recruitment Scandal

Deputy National Police Spokesperson, Harry Namwaza has confirmed that they have launched a search for a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) official Chipiliro Kaliyopa who is implicated in a police recruitment scandal.

Police said, Kaliyopa allegedly solicited money from unsuspecting youth, with a promise that he will help them join the police service.

The allegations blew out after scores of bogus recruits were sent back from Mtakataka and Kanjedza Police training schools.

But last Tuesday during a press briefing in Lilongwe, Kaliyopa who is the MCP youth league member, challenged the police on their failure to arrest him.

He then told journalists that he will hand himself over to the police on Wednesday.

Namwaza has since made an appeal to Kaliyopa to hand himself to the law enforcers as per his earlier statement to the media.
