Nigerian actor Leo Mezie dies at 46

Sharing with broken heart, his demise was announced by his colleague, Chioma Topis. She revealed that the actor died on Saturday, 14 May, 2022 in a hospital in Abuja just when he was recovering from a kidney transplant surgery and his corpse has been moved to his hometown.

“Actor Leo Mezie is dead. He died on Saturday in Abuja while recovering from kidney transplant. His corpse has been moved to Umuahia his hometown. RIP Leo”, she wrote.

The actor who has been battling with kidney disease for years had undergone a kidney transplant surgery in 2016, in the United Kingdom.

On his return from the trip the actor thanked his wife and other Nigerians like Ateke Tom, Apostle Johnson Suleman and Ibinabo Fiberesima for their support.

Leo Mezie whose real name is Leonard Chimezie Onyemachi was a Nigerian Actor, Producer and Writer. He was born on 25 January, 1976.

Leo Mezie started his acting career in 1996 when he joined the Nigerian movie industry and started attending movie auditions and acting as a minor character in movies. In 2003, he rose to stardom after acting in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Labista” alongside Emma Ehummadu, Jerry Amilo and Ernest Asuzu.

Leo Mezie has acted alongside other top Nollywood actors and actresses such as Jerry Williams, Emma Ehummadu, Jerry Amilo, Ernest Asuzu, Gentle Jack, Zack Orji, Chidi Mokeme, among others.
