Truck driver unknowingly moves with dead body in Zambia

Police in Kafue have recorded a case of sudden death in which Gift Katyamba aged 40 years of Zambia Compound in Kafue, died whilst sleeping on a truck on his way from Pemba.

Kafue Officer In Charge, Jason Lungu confirmed the incident and said the family has since been notified and that police do not suspect any foul play but the actual cause of death will have to be established.

The incident happened when the deceased sought for a lift from Pemba to Kafue, and was reported to be under the weather.

One of the neighbors spoke to by Kafue Times, Conrad Chilala indicated that Katyamba had travelled to Pemba to visit his relatives and was not too well at the time.

On his way back, he was said to have taken a nap on the truck and the driver only realised that he could not wake up when they arrived in Kafue.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited in the Kafue General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
