Bushiri’s Extradition Case To Return To Court This Month

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s extradition case will return to the Lilongwe Magistrate Court on June 12 2022, following an application by the South African government for a review order for witnesses not to come and testify.

The application was made through the office of the Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP)

According to the notice that The Daily Times has seen all parties are expected to appear before the Chief Resident Magistrate Court on June 17, 2022.

Bushiri and his wife surrendered to Malawi to police after fleeing South Africa.

Bushiri’s and two others are accused of stealing $6.6 million through theft, money laundering and fraud in South Africa.

A spokesperson for Bushiri, Ephraim Nyondo, explained the reason Bushiri fled to Malawi.

“What the prophet wants is to have a fair trial in South Africa. There hasn’t been an indication of him having a fair trial there,” Nyondo said.
