Former VP Cassim Chilumpha Concerned With Economic Hardships, Blackouts And Corruption

Former Vice President and President of the Assembly for Democracy and Development (ADD) Cassim Chilumpha has concerned with how things are going in the country.

Speaking to journalist in Blantyre, Chilumpha said of constant blackouts, water shortages and the economic climate as worrisome for Malawians and they are signs that government is failing.

He was much concerned rising cost of maize prices “at a time people are harvesting. If a bag of maize is at K17,000 now, how much will it be in December or January?”

According to Chilumpha, the current austerity measures in place do not have meaningful impact on cutting expenses.

He has since urged President Lazarus Chakwera to trim his cabinet.
