Demoted DCs obtains Court Injunction

The Malawi Local Government Association (MLGM) has obtained a court injunction restraining government from effecting demotion transfers of District Commissioners (DCs).

Recently government demoted over 15 DCs and posted them to various government agencies.

Others were given only the mere post of Director at government hospital.

This did not please the MLGM as it felt that it’s a political witchcraft that has necessitated the ‘illegal transfers and demotions’ as no DC was given a reason for the change.

Hearing of the interlocutors injunction has been slated on 18th September,2022 in the Blantyre High Court.
