Patel speaks out on Atupele’s retiring from retirement

United Democratic Front (UDF) interim president Lilian Patel said she will not allow anyone to create parallel structures in the pursuit of positions.

Patel was commenting on reports that her predecessor Atupele Muluzi is eying a comeback as the party’s president.

Patel said Muluzi remains a bonafide member of the party and is free to contest for any position but said there are over-enthusiastic people who are campaigning for their preferred candidates for personal gains.

Patel held a press conference in Blantyre to discuss progress the party has made since she took over from Muluzi months ago.
