Suleman accuses joint committee members of attempting to frustrate AIP investigations

Co-chairperson for Parliamentary joint committee looking into issues of mis-procurement and mismanagement of public resources Sameer Suleman suspects that some members of the committee are bent on frustrating efforts of the inquiry by shielding some officers from being interviewed.

Suleman made the remarks today morning after the committee failed to interview SPC Colleen Zamba as some members suggested that former SPC Zangazanga Chikhosi should be the first one to be questioned.

The chairperson said members voted on a motion on whether to interview the SPC or not and those against it won.

Yesterday Suleman was forced to recuse himself from chairing the committee after former Minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe accused him of being conflicted.

According to Lowe, Suleman was one of the people who travelled to Egypt to search for fertilizer under the AIP.

Lowe also accused Suleman of propagating the missing of MK30 billion at the Ministry of Agriculture.
