In a modern day Bonnie and Clyde classic, two teenage lovers aged 19 and 18 in Chingola have been apprehended by police on the Copperbelt for masterminding two aggravated robberies.
It is reported that the teenage couple, working in cahoots with another pair of lovers, executed their grand theft on July 23 and November 23 this year, absconding with two motor vehicles.
With two successful operations on the group’s self-made Guinness book of records, 19 year-old Francis Munkondya of Nchanga South started looking for other casualties and this time his target was his grandfather.
However, like the saying of even walls have ears, the grandfather got wind of the information and also found out that Munkondya was in possession of a firearm.
The grandfather then reported his teenage grandson to the anti-robbery unit who later on apprehended Munkondya.
After Munkondya was interrogated, he started spilling the beans and admitted of committing the robberies.
Munkondya became Adam after eating the forbidden fruit, literally finger pointing his girlfriend till the whole group was uncovered.
It was discovered that the pistol in possession of Munkondya was given to him by his 18 year-old girlfriend Lukumo Kayebeta, a resident of Riverside drive.
Lukumo was later apprehended and interviewed, revealing to the police that she stole the pistol from her sick grandfather Job Ng’andwe senior the father to Job Ng’andwe junior who happens to be a victim of their executed robberies.
After obtaining the firearm Lukumo gave it to her boyfriend who partnered with her sister Mwila Jane aged 20 and her sister’s boyfriend identified as Elias Chileshe of Kabundi East.
The two couple later attacked their uncle Ngandwe and robbed him of the Toyota Noah.
The two sister with their boyfriends then went further to rob a Ford Escape from their house which was later recovered abandoned in Siweto compound.
Copperbelt commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the arrest, stating that the two sisters and Francis Munkondya are currently detained in police custody Chileshe who knows where the Toyota Noah is kept is still at large.
Mweemba said Investigation are still ongoing and more updates on the case will follow.
